post-party buys to help you get back to feeling great this summer

Everything in moderation, most of the time.

Long weekends of camping, not sleeping, and loud music. Day festivals full of footsteps and £5 bottles of water that just scream "I might as well have a fun drink instead". Day raves in the sweltering heat. Nights out that go on into the early hours, often. Everyone and their mum and their mum’s dog asking you to hang out in the park in the sun every single day because the weather is good and simply why not, it’s summer! Summer is a hedonistic, joy-filled time of year, but it sure can take the wind out of our sails.
If you're feeling like you may have indulged a little too much so far this year, fear not. There’s things we can do to help us on through, to keep that sun blocked, the electrolytes in, the eyes alert, and the vibes all nice and balanced (and the anxiety to a minimum).
Sometimes this self-care can be simply doing a little less, drinking a little more water, applying more sunscreen, and spending time alone to recalibrate. But life does like to get in the way in the warm months, though. And who wants to miss out? That’s what winter is for! So for the helping hand in keeping hydrated, protected, a bit less intoxicated, and other words that don’t end in ‘ed’ (like calm, awake, at ease), have a little scour through these curated products. From serums to electrolyte tables, all of which are ideal to stock up on and reap the benefits of through the feral, fun, full-on festival season of 2023.
protect ya neck (and face)
Okay, technically a 'pre-party' suggestion but one that has post-party implications! Sunscreen, important!! This SPF 50 isn’t greasy, doesn’t spend all its time catching the sweat train past your eyebrows and into your eyes, and has a lovely pleasant fresh coconut-y smell. It helps to hydrate your skin too thanks to the cucumber extract and birch water inside. Winning.
plump
Say you’ve had a long one and you wake up with a face feeling as dry and dusty as the soil you spent the previous day sitting on. No bother, it’s all cool (far cooler than the hand-held fan you were trying to make work yesterday!) because Hæckels algae plump serum is a dream on all skin types, and its whole thing is hydration. That’s thanks to the seaweed hand-harvested mere minutes away from where the product is produced. Super lightweight and plumping from inside to out. A real reviver.
hydration nation
But of course, hydration is needed in more places than the layers of our skin, and water is good in the midst of having fun, but if you’ve overdone it on diuretics like caffeine and alcohol, that becomes a little bit redundant. Something that does help the hangovers? Popping a hydration tablet before bed, or first thing in the morning if you forget. Hux’s is designed for recovery from exercise (dancing all day counts) and contains zinc to help with muscle recovery as well as immunity support. The hydration aspect is more hydrating than water, and has a load of potassium in there to get you going again. The 12 pack is a bargain compared to buying individual tubes, especially when you’ll swear by them all summer.
all caps
Your B vitamins are generally fatigue-ridders, so after a long day or simply when you’re feeling a little worn out, get the B vitamins in, lads. They energise both mind and body. These from sixways are made to the highest quality, and they’re free from gluten, lactose, and soy. There’s no added sugar, and they’re both vegan and kosher. B3, in particular, is a shout in the summer because it helps to protect skin cells from sun damage.
ACV > AC
Apple cider vinegar is reported to be great for a variety of things. Reducing bloat, helping sugar levels, generally detoxing the body, and helping our microbiome. Many people like to take it daily. But it really does taste like sour cider, and usually has to be diluted with some other liquid, not the one if you’re out on your travels (or don’t like the taste). Yumi have made a, well, yummy, alternative in gummy form. Problems solved!
wellness buffet
Well you know what a detox is, the liver removing impurities from the blood, and the removal of toxins from the kidneys, lungs, lymphatic system, intestines and skin. Your body does this automatically (clever body) but The Detox Booster promises to give it a helping hand. Turmeric, kelp, chlorella, cocoa, wheatgrass, matcha, maca, camu camu, spirulina, and peppermint. Promising things like inflammation-prevention to stress and energy relief, just stir 5g into a cup of liquid (teas and smoothies work well), maybe add some honey, and you’re away!
yummy gummy
And for those who aren’t so keen on swallowing capsules, yumi has an ashwagandha gummy that might be much more convenient for you, and it’s a lovely tart elderberry flavour. Ashwagandha is known to help relieve stress and anxiety, it’s also an aphrodisiac, so that’s fun!
