Bisexuals rejoice! We now have documentation of an IRL interaction between Zendaya and Paul Mescal aka 2023’s biggest heartthrobs, who between them have enough star power to set a room alight.
In case you missed it, last night was the SAG Awards, a televised awards show that recognises the best performances across tv and film. The ceremony saw plenty of major moments - such as heartwarming speeches by the Everything Everywhere All at Once cast - but we are still reeling from seeing Zendaya and Mescal on stage.
Specifically, the Euphoria actress and Aftersun actor were on co-hosting duties and made their way to the podium to present the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series — which, ultimately, went to Jessica Chastain.
Sitting on the same table (which also featured Andrew Garfield) the duo proceeded to walk through the crowded hall together when their time came to jump on the mic. Plenty of Twitter users honed in on a moment between the two actors where Mescal can be seen reaching out to help Zendaya on stage and it’s unsure whether she swerves his hand or he thinks the better of it and pulls his hand back himself (we’re hoping the latter).
What’s much more clear is that Mescal looks visibly flustered up on stage next to Zendaya who, for anyone, is kind of an icon. While she seamlessly gets through her speech, he can be heard fumbling over his words and looks more than a little nervous.
And to this we can only say: relatable. We too would be falling over ourselves if we were stood next to the one and only Rue. It’s a nice reminder that even celebrities get starstruck from time to time.
