Happy spring! The flowers may be starting to bloom, but in fashion, darker inspirations are afoot. Whether it’s Gwyneth Paltrow’s chic ski trial ‘fits, the rise of ankle monitor footwear or Heaven's kinky new handcuff purse, fashion is obsessed with crime right now. Elsewhere this week, CHRISTIANAHJONES’s new fashion film celebrates London nightlife and Julien Dossena is set to guest design the next season at Jean Paul Gaultier. Meanwhile, for the streetwear afficianados, there's the release of Tommy Hilfiger’s Aries collab and Palace Skateboards' UGGs. Here’s all the feel good fashion news from this week.

Heaven’s Cuffz bag is serving Y2K DUI chic

From spoilt socialites to sophisticated scammers, the world of crime has often inspired designers. The latest accessory to tap into this criminal allure comes from Marc Jacobs's Heaven. Harking back to an era of celebrity shoplifting and DUIs, it's based on the OG handcuff bag created by Linz Shelton in 2004. Shelton designed it so she could attach her purse to her wrist so she wouldn't lose it in the club. It soon became a celebrity It-bag and Paris Hilton bought it in 10 colours. Now, Heaven has partnered with Shelton to bring back the iconic accessory almost two decades later. It also comes with fully functioning cuffs and a key; not loving this bag would be a crime.

CHRISTIANAHJONES’s fashion film is an ode to the night tube

We can't quite explain it, but there's something about wearing sunglasses in the dark that will always feel cool. Calling, the latest fashion film from CHRISTIANAHJONES taps into this, celebrating Black British culture and the frenetic energy of the night tube. Capturing the heady anticipation before a night out, the film showcases the brand's vibey Billie Eilish-approved shades. Watch the film here and snap up your own pair here in time for festival season.

Paco Rabanne’s Julien Dossena heads to Jean Paul Gaultier

From Glenn Martens to Haider Ackermann, a guest season at Jean Paul Gaultier has become a new rite of passage for top designers, giving them a chance to dive into the brand’s rich archives and come up with their own take. The latest to score the coveted spot is Paco Rabanne's Julien Dossena, who describes Gaultier as one of his childhood heroes. "His generosity of expression and pleasure are pretty contagious," Dossena said of Gaultier's work. "He’s all about generosity of sharing, and having fun too." The collection, to be shown in July, will be Dossena’s couture debut.

All American denim meets British streetwear

The Tommy Hilfiger x Aries collab has arrived! Comprising of menswear, womenswear and footwear, the transatlantic collab takes cues from Tommy Jeans’s baggy ‘90s silhouettes with exaggerated layers, trucker hats and denim. Pieces are largely made from existing garments, surplus fabric, post-consumer waste and upcycled denim. Tapping into gaming fashion, the campaign is also accompanied by an 8-bit game that allows players to win parts of the collection through virtual avatars who hack the drop queue to get to the store. Check out the collection here.

Finally, UGGs for the sk8er bois

He was a punk. She did ballet. Well, now there's a shoe for both of them! Palace Skateboards have teamed up with UGG to bring you some lightning bolt graphic boots that are as cool as they are cosy. A true testament to the fact that you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style, the unexpected collab comes in UGG's most popular boot silhouette with electric blue lightning bolts and Palace branding. Get your pair here before they sell out.
