ASAP Rocky was dating supermodel Chanel Iman when he released ‘Fashion Killa’ in 2013, but the track, which name drops luxury fashion brands from Ann Demeulemeester to Helmut Lang, could really be about any of his girlfriends, or about the rapper himself. Since starting a relationship with Rihanna in 2020, the pair have dropped some of the most iconic couples fits of all time. ASAP is undoubtedly one of the best dressed men in music, perhaps only tying for first place with Kendrick Lamar.

When ASAP Rocky played Brixton Academy in 2013, his outfit was a checklist of some of the buzziest streetwear brands at the time. He wore white basketball shorts and socks from Pyrex Vision, Virgil Abloh’s first venture, which he shuttered when he founded Off-White. ASAP styled them with a matching cap, Hood By Air long-sleeved tee and classic Nike Air Force 1s which were big with fashion influencers on Tumblr in the early 2010s. Here, he's captured out and about in Manhattan in November 2021. This look is giving '90s dad, but make it fashion. He pairs an oversized jacket cut like a shirt over an actual shirt and tie with diamond print denim with a classic pair of adidas Sambas given a modern update courtesy of the neon green laces. In July 2022, ASAP Rocky went for another laid back look in a Charlatans band tee, baggy denim and casual sneakers. It's the kind of outfit you'd wear to pop out to the shops, but ASAP makes sure to accessorise it with reflective shades, jewellery and a chunky belt to guarantee it's still a style statement.

At this year’s Met Gala, ASAP Rocky was one of the few male attendees who understood the assignment. His look for the 'Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty' themed event was inspired by an outfit Lagerfeld wore to Chanel's 2004 runway show in Tokyo. The custom Gucci ensemble is finished with a pair of dark sunglasses, – also a nod to Lagerfeld – a silver brooch, steel-tip boots, Boucheron jewellery, a leather glove and three Gucci belts.

ASAP Rocky has starred in several Gucci campaigns, most recently alongside Julia Garner and Elliot Page. For their AW23 show back in February, ASAP sat front row in this suave tailored ensemble, a more gender fluid take on traditional suiting. At the 2021 Met Gala, Rihanna and ASAP Rocky showed up late in outfits that looked like they were wrapped up in their duvets, which is how I wish I could show up at most events tbh. The multi-coloured patchwork quilt that ASAP wore actually belonged to somebody's great grandmother and had been donated to charity. The Met might be known as a stage to flaunt the most extravagant designer gowns, but ASAP proved that sometimes thrifted can be just as glam.
