Last night, fashion lovers around the world were clinging to their phone screens, scrolling frantically past look after look after look for the eagerly awaited ‘Oscars of the East Coast’. While the 2023 Met Gala saw the men serving pussycats and pearls for its Karl Lagerfeld theme, and the previous year was all things gilded glamour, this year the dress code was ‘The Garden of Time’ – taking inspo from a 1962 short story by J.G. Ballard, which is ironically about wealthy aristocrats who get overrun by a working-class mob.
The theme saw many plump for florals, while others focused more on time, with wrist watches and clocks (and gave us plenty of feel good moments at the same time). Honourable mentions go to Ayo Edebiri’s dress with 3D appliqué flowers, Ambika Mod’s “dress within a dress” gown, Josh O’Connor’s long train tux complete with floral boots, Emma Chamberlain's dark lace look and Kylie Minogue’s custom Diesel outfit by Glenn Martens. Read on below for the woo team's pick of our favourite looks from the red – or should that be green – carpet.
