In 2014, Jonathan Anderson presented his first ever collection for Loewe. You probably don’t remember a time when the two names didn’t go hand in hand. The Northern Irish designer and London College of Fashion grad was still in his twenties and his own brand, JW Anderson, had only existed for five years. Yet over the next decade he would transform the Spanish label into one of the most desirable brands in the world, – it reached the top spot of Lyst’s Hottest Brands Index earlier this year before Miu Miu knocked it down to second place.

Anderson has carved out a distinctive aesthetic that runs the gamut from surrealist silhouettes made from anthurium flowers and real grass to the dizzyingly high waistlines on show in his recent collections and a new campaign fronted by 88-year-old Dame Maggie Smith that broke the internet last week. Below, we highlight some of Loewe’s most innovative and mind-bending moments from recent collections that prove how Anderson is always one step ahead of the curve.
