How many first-time eyewear designers can say that Anna Wintour has worn their wares? Not many, that’s for sure, but Kanye West can. The multi-hyphenate is something of a “go big or go home” kind of guy and in this instance, he’s stayed true to type.

The artist has launched a new line of sunglasses, called Yeezy Shades (YZY SHDZ, if you’re feeling fancy) and we’re sure they’re going to be everywhere over the next year — especially considering that they’ve already been seen on some of the most stylish influencers in the social media landscape.

Designed by Ye, the shades were first thought to be a part of his Yeezy collaboration with Gap but are now believed to be part of a solo Yeezy offering, following his decision to part ways with the American retailer. The official arrival of the sunglasses was announced online with a splashy influencer activation — housed on the freshly created @yzyshdz Instagram account — which saw a bevy of influencers, celebs and internet faves including Nikita Dragun, Maya Jama, Fousheé and Woo fave Simran Randhawa.

The best bit? The shades are way more affordable than you might first think. In an interview with Forbes, Ye made it clear that accessibility had been a priority when conceptualising the shades and future Yeezy apparel and accessories though it is unclear if this will work in practice. “The glasses will cost $20, and everything in the Ye Supply store will be $20,” he said. “And, we're working on how to make clothing free. Because life is free.”

Yep, for 20 dollars the glasses could be yours — thought you will have to join a waiting list first (who knows how long that will take?) which can be done by heading over to yeezy.com to enter in your email address. Happy shopping…
