Have a laugh after the Netflix hit series’ epic final showdown
words Team Woo
On July 1, the Duffer brothers dropped a bomb in the form of Stranger Things season 4, volume 2. Naturally, we raced straight to the crash site – our Netflix accounts – to watch and assess the fate of our fave Hawkins school kids.
After three rollercoaster seasons filled with freaky demogorgons, otherworldly adventures, secret Russian operations, romance and friendships, the fourth instalment of the show got even more high stakes. We meet Vecna, a new villain from the Upside Down that gives off a Freddie Kruger meets Pennywise the clown vibe, who causes chaos, murder, and an evil that threatens Eleven and the gang. We've seen the return of fan faves like Hopper, the continued brilliance of Sadie Sink as Max, and a glittering soundtrack that’s brought about a resurgence of old school bangers with Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" in a now iconic scene. We witnessed an epic final showdown – Netflix didn’t scrimp on the budget for those fight scenes. And now, we’re all caught up.
After dropping this season, Stranger Things broke the Nielsen streaming record for most-viewed program in a single week. Five days from release, the 80s thriller was viewed for 7.2 billion minutes. It broke records previously set by Tiger King and Ozark, which surpassed 5 billion minutes watched within one week. Stranger Things 4a also beat out Bridgerton as Netflix’s most viewed English language series.
Netflix has just announced that season five of Stranger Things is in the works, but until then, grab some Eggos and enjoy the best memes and reactions to Stranger Things.
