After four weeks of crazy runway moments, viral fashion memes and spotting celebs on the Frow, fashion month finally wrapped up in Paris today. As wearied fashion editors drag themselves back to their home cities, it’s time to reflect on some of this season’s biggest trends. A lot of the time, runway fashion is a theatrical spectacle – Bella Hadid in a spray-on dress, anyone? But just because it’s unlikely we’ll be spraying on our clothes or wearing Loewe’s giant anthurium floral tops by next Spring, that doesn’t mean we can’t pick up some real-life style inspiration from the runway all the same.
This season, fashion toughened up with biker jackets, utility wear and distressed denim stomping down the runway, from Kanye’s heavy-duty motocross-meets-military look at Balenciaga to Diesel’s skimpy bleached and battered denim and leather co-ords. Elsewhere, Y2K mania was still out in full force with low-rise denim, micro-minis and Barbie pink strutting out more times than we can count, notably at Versace, Blumarine and Knwls.
Before the latest collections even drop in stores, here are the standout trends from the SS23 shows and where to buy them now, so you can up your wardrobe game and stay ahead of the trends.
BIG ON BEIGE

Buckle up, because biker style has zoomed in. Of course, you don’t need to actually be a biker to wear this trend. Whether you’re channelling Balenciaga’s head-to-toe leather looks or taking a more balanced approach as GmbH’s Serhat Isik and Benjamin Huseby did at Trussardi, it’s time slip on some leather and live out your bad boy fantasies.
DOUBLE DENIM

It’s time to channel Justin and Britney or, to use a 2022 example, Julia Fox and Kanye at Paris Men’s Fashion Week last January. The SS23 runway was all about doing double, whether that’s with literal identical twins at Gucci and Sunnei or with denim co-ords at Off-White, Diesel, Stella McCartney and Masha Popova. THINK PINK
