Pelegrims, a low-intervention, active skincare range that uses waste products from the wine-making process and harnesses powerful grape extracts is the brainchild of Alex Verier (the mind behind Margate’s famous Haeckels), sommelier and tech executive Jérôme Moisan and former Le Labo marketing whiz, Gaelle Scoul. 
 
Both Pelegrims and its partner Westwell Wines, a vineyard in North Downs, Kent, home to Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Ortega varieties, believe in the power of longevity. Westwell thinks not just in terms of the next few vintages but the next generations, while Pelegrims values patience, a long attention span, and slow, thorough learning. They are not guided by a frantic search for more: new products will exist if / when they are ready. 
 
The skincare line is formulated, trialled and manufactured in the same lab/production centre, located only about 20 miles from Westwell Wines. This not only allows them to keep their carbon footprint low, but also allows for traceability from seed to bottle as they see the process the entire way through. Pelegrims never test on animals (only on the founders and daring friends and family) and make products in small batches only to ensure quality.

Daily ritual: Pump a small amount of cleanser onto wet hands and massage together to create a lather. Continue to massage between fingers and knuckles whilst rinsing with hot water. Pat dry with a cotton towel. Apply your favourite hand cream after use to lock in moisture. Size: 270ml

An exfoliating hand cleanser from British skincare brand Pelegrims. Made with English Ortega Grape Extract to repair and hydrate the skin, and crushed walnut shells to gently exfoliate.
