which woo is our way of getting to the heart of all the feel-good things that bring us joy, excitement and delight. In this series, we sit down with big names across music, film, TV and many more to find out what really moves them and, when it comes down to it, which woo they’d choose when hard pressed.

For this which woo, we’re joined by stand-up comedian Jaboukie Young-White, whose latest creative adventure has led him to the big screen, co-starring in Disney’s animated Strange World. Luckily for us, the project is being brought to us by the very same studios that delivered cult classics Encanto and Big Hero 6. But in this animation, Strange World takes us on a weird and wonderful journey to a mysterious universe in search of ways to save the civilisation of Avalonia from the poisonous source of energy threatening to ruin it.

Directed by Don Hall, the mind also behind Moana, the fantastical animation follows three generations of explorers: the senior, Jaeger Clade (voiced by Dennis Quaid), his son Searcher (Jake Gyllenhaall) and his grandson Ethan (Jaboukie). In an attempt to save the home they all love after their power source comes under threat, each sets out in their own ways to find sustainable energy to fuel their secluded settlement. But along the way, and, of course, with the help of Searcher’s wife and matriarch Meridian (played by Gabrielle Union), they come to discover more about themselves.

The film has been praised by critics as Disney’s most inclusive project yet – both in its ecological themes and characters. The film certainly reflects a distinct creative vision that hopes to blend our love of feel-good fantasy with real-world issues. And with visually mesmerising, technicolour animations, it certainly makes for an essential watch.

Strange World releases exclusively in cinemas on Wednesday 23rd November.
