How’s your third bank holiday of the month looking? Busy? Perhaps you managed to keep it chill in between the previous four day week and this one and are looking forward to a little weekend of fun before the summer (aka feral season) really kicks in. Perhaps you’ve not been able to slow the pace down, what with the sun being out and everyone wanting to do everything, and are hoping this weekend is very chill (while everyone else is at festivals, perhaps you can have a bath and read that book you hoped you’d finish weeks ago).
Either way, a lovely thing about this bank holiday is that it coincides with PAYDAY. Which means you can have fun with a little less anxiety than you do on other weeks. Of course being perfect and consistent with budgets between paydays is difficult, but if you have a little fun budget left over (or are planning to), then these very occasions make for a nice way to enjoy the good things you deserve!
Whether you’re looking for pampering products, boosters to help you feel less tired after partying all weekend, cute caps, sleek shorts, beautiful bedding, a speaker that you can literally take anywhere you decide to adventure (it’ll go through streams, up mountains, whatever!) these payday treats will provide answers. With brands including More Joy, Hæckels, Bang & Olufsen on display, it’s well worth a little browse on our marketplace as you eye up the extended weekend, we think. Besides, some of these will last much longer than that month between paydays.
Now, you’re thinking about treats, but you’re not thinking about a heated eye wand, are you? Fair enough, it’s a wildcard, buuuuut hear us out. This heated eye wand is a great addition to your daily routine. The 'heat only' setting effectively works like a hot compress (without all the fiddliness), which is great for dry eyes (and actually, relieving hayfever symptoms). Other settings include massages and red LED light in combination with heat. The ways in which your eyes will feel better is honestly surprising.
Gut health, good bacteria, skin-gut axis, MICROBIOME. It’s like playing bingo with the buzzwords of the wellness world today. If you want to spend some payday cash nurturing your full house of all things in the belly, this probiotic from anatomē is an ideal option. It’s created by nutritionists to support your immune and digestive system, and comprises of seven beneficial live strains of bacteria (you don’t need more!)
Hæckels came from Margate and took over the world with their seaweed-laced beauty and wellness products, now they’ve taken things a step further. Spiraglow™ is a type of algae which the brand has literally invented. It’s in this serum and is unique, containing hydrating, anti-ageing, calming and other properties we get from a variety of seaweed all in one place.
Also, Hæckels make great candles, a fair few of them, but this one smells like the sea. Clean, fresh, salted air, yes, but also all those other lonely beach smells that the real heads will know and crave: crushed up sea shells, petrichor, seawater, the slight coppery smell (probably iodine really) you get off the seaweed. It’s all there. Lighting this candle is completely transformative. A treat, a little holiday in your room.
slow days, fast company
A good cap is everyone’s best friend. Keeps our long hair under wraps, stops the sun burning us or getting in our eyes, looks all sporty and cool. This cap is ethically manufactured under the 1% for the Planet® initiative, which is a good incentive in itself. But also, the expertly embroidered ‘acid running’ logo is just neat, don’t you think?
A bit of skincare, who doesn’t love that! BYBI is a skin-positive, pro-planet beauty brand using vegan, cruelty-free products. This set includes their Bakuchiol Booster, a 100% natural, vegan-friendly alternative to retinol. A cold-pressed strawberry seed oil which is an antioxidant-rich hydrating serum that's perfect for flakey, irritated, or dry skin. And a facial massage tool, because why not have good things!
a sound investment
There’s outdoor speakers, and there’s outdoor speakers. This one can be taken to the park and it’ll play great quality tunes for up to 27 hours, sure, but let’s think bigger. Mountain climbing, cave diving, use your imagination. It’s waterproof (if it gets muddy you can just wash it in a stream), it clips onto a backpacks, the controls are glove-friendly. Endless limits, good vibrations.
Are you magnesium curious yet? Heard people saying how their sleep is soooooo much better since they started taking magnesium, and that they feel soooooo much better as a result? Have you heard others saying it helps with PMS? Well, magnesium is one of the minerals we tend to not get enough of in Western diets, so they could be on to something. Either way, payday is the time to find out, right?
Feeling fatigued? Worried you’ll be feeling fatigued after the weekend? B vitamins are the answer. This supplement has a complex of B vitamins designed to help you feel awake. There’s also herbal extracts and nootropics packed in that vegan capsule to help you feel alert. An ideal booster that you’ll notice when you’re not taking it.
